Moving boards - 3 key questions

What are movable boards? This is the colloquial name for a solution that allows side walls to be enclosed with movable louvres. In the case of the OpenUp system, we are not just talking about boards, but also aluminium slats.

Building movable boards is the easiest way to functionally cover the side walls of a terrace, balcony, shed or gazebo. Thanks to special holders, you can shield your space from the sun, wind and rain in a matter of hours. With just one hand movement, you can hide your leisure space from the unwanted glances of neighbours or strangers.
You can make both walls, classic shuttersas well as sliding doors. This solution allows the space of the 'outdoor living room' to be adapted to the occasion and the number of people using it.

OpenUp system - polish moving board mechanism

OpenUp system is a set of brackets (left and right) that allows you to install six moveable boards or fins. One set is sufficient for installation of blinds with a height of 58.2 cm. Depending on on the infill material (wood plank or aluminium) one set of handles serves for fixing the infill from aluminium. Up to 25 cm. The handles are made of polypropylene and are available in five colours: black (RAL 9005), anthracite (RAL 7016), white (RAL 9003), dark brown (RAL 8016), light brown (RAL 8024).

The popularity that movable external blinds have gained in Poland has led to the emergence of many types of mechanisms for movable boards.
On the market you will find blind guides made of aluminium or thin metal. When deciding on these, you need to know that this is not an ideal solution. And it's not just about sharp edges that can cut your skin and corrode. Painted metal is easy to scratch during use. The effects of metal-on-metal friction are also visible.
Handles made of plastic also come under scrutiny before you decide to buy them. A wise solution is to order one set first and test it out. How do we know this? We keep a close eye on the market and continually test the products that come on sale.

What should you look out for when testing moving board holders?

  1. See if they have the right rigidityThis means that they can be used in a wide range of installations. OpenUp system brackets are designed to hold both prefabricated timber or aluminium laths as well as those made in-house in accordance with the guidelines.
  2. Assess the quality of the plastic. You can buy anything in China today. Cheaply, quickly, even with free shipping. The price is also influenced by the material from which the handles are made. The OpenUp system is ALL manufactured in Poland. We are confident that each of our handles meets the appropriate quality conditions.
  3. The condition of the plastic finish is also important. For the handles to work smoothly, they must be made on carefully machined moulds. The edges of the handles should be smooth, without injection marks.
  4. Check the quality of the mechanism's work handles for movable external blinds. How? Simply move the sockets attached to the profile a few times. They should move smoothly and precisely.

How do the OpenUp system moving board blinds work?

You can fill the handles of the OpenUp system with wood or aluminium. The maximum recommended length for decking louvre boards is 110 cm. For aluminium lamellas, the maximum dimension is 250 cm (vertically fixed blinds) or 200 cm (horizontally fixed blinds). Properly fitted brackets allow the blinds to operate smoothly and precisely. Can't imagine it? See the videos on our FB profile OpenedPl. You can also see on YouTube how our handles tests Mario the Builder.

The blinds can work independently of each other - you set each set separately. By connecting them with clips (you get these when you buy at least two sets), you create sections that work together.

The boards or laths can be removed from the brackets to refresh or replace them. In this way, you can easily change the arrangement of your terrace or balcony.

Mechanism for moving vertical boards 100-250 cm

The movable boards can be fixed horizontally or vertically. Please note: For vertical installation only aluminium laths. Wooden blinds are not suitable for vertical installation. As a natural material, the boards can warp and swell, disrupting the proper functioning of the system. You can use aluminium louvres up to a length of 250 cm.
